Wow that’s a big one!! Pretty markings!
Whoa, big snake! And fast!
Not afraid of much but snakes get my full attention. That & clowns, don’t care for the clown. If I ever saw a clown with a snake draped around its neck chances are I’d become airborne..
Cool video….may I ask where this was taken? Not feeling too comfy about living in Mn. if there are snakes that size lurking about….I know they are God’s creatures….just hope I never see one in real life…YIKES!
Everyone’s talking about the snake. What’s the bird?! Avocet?
wow that’s a large snake, thought that bird was a gonner
Mmmmm – not so much!
Graceful. I had to remind myself that every creature has its own beauty.
Not sure what kind of snake that is ?. Interesting watching it drinking water.
that was fascinating!
What kind of snake?
Stunning!!!
I was surprised to see how fast it could swim! Fascinating.
Too close!
Loved this, wonder what kind of snake…didnt think bullsnakes are that colorful?
Amazing!
Snake slake. Wonderful!
I’ve NEVER seen a snake drink water. Quite fascinating!
not a fan of reptiles
Incredible video!
Bull Snake? Amazing!
All the water in the lake and he picks a soaked weedy area …..wonder why?
Thank you again for sharing with us things most of us will likely never witness outside your images!
I don’t fear snakes. They are a beautiful part of our planet’s ecosystem. Thanks for the post.
Just awesome….have never seen a snake drink water!!!
Wow. . . .wow.
He/she’s beautiful and well-fed. What kind of snake is this? Gorgeous markings!!
I keep coming back to this day…because it’s my birthday, and because I so want to ‘Like’ it. It doesn’t frighten me, although I’m not certain what my response might be if I saw this beauty out in the wild. I feel like it’s bigger than I am…and that gives me pause! But I do appreciate its beauty, its power, and its place in the world.
Okay..…I have to ‘Like’ it…it keeps drawing me back….
Thank you, Jim.
Woe
Beautiful snake. Neat to see him drinking water.
No matter where I am in my day, or how “busy” I am on facebook I’ve learned to stop, sit back and relax with Jim’s video. Even with snakes as the subject!
Oh, this will be a favorite so deeply love this one.
Beautiful! What kind of a snake is this?
What a lovely big snake he is. In all of the nature shows I’ve watched over my long life, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen footage of a snake drinking. Thanks for what, to me, is an unique slice of life.
Dan Almen! Check out the video that goes with this
Cool
I am not a fan of any snake and I never really thought about if they ever got thirsty. This video was informative but it still does not make me like snakes any better. Great video of one of nature’s misunderstood creatures.
Awesome capture of this snake, even tho I hate snakes!! Hope it was only drinking water and didn’t get the sandpaper or bird in the water!
Remarkable. Imagine having an intimate glimpse like this!
I love this one for this beautiful crawling specimen, thank you
thank you
Thank you
Love the shot of the beautiful snake gliding across the water and then drinking. THANK YOU!
toll
Looks like a bull snake aka gopher snake.
Thank you.
That snake is non poisonous. (It’s eye pupils are round — poisonous snakes have vertical slits for pupils. Also poisonous snakes have triangular shaped heads.
Thank you for this remindful primer, Gordon! It’ll serve me well the next time I have to look a snake in the eye!
Exceptions to the triangular head shape would be the cobra and the coral snakes. Pretty certain there are others.
Possibly a northern water snake??
One big guy!
I do not like snakes, but this one, being thirsty and drinking, is so beautiful that I can like her!
Beautiful! What kind of snake?
Awesome!
Beautiful video, Jim. Please tell me that was not shot in MN somewhere!
Wow – great photo! What kind of snake is that?
So sinuous and beautiful! ❤️
